Public benefits
Public Benefit Statement 1. The advancement of citizenship or community development: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improved living conditions for everyone in Kinallen while providing facilities for the youth, women and older people; increased opportunities to learn; reduction in social isolation in our rural community
and enhanced community spirit and relations. These benefits will be demonstrated through increased numbers of residents attending the events organised by KRCDA. 2. The relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include decreased isolation through events organised by KRCDA. With residents experiencing isolation in this rural part of Co Down, local people can avail of the junior youth club which runs weekly for 6-11 year olds, Christmas dinner for all older people, the May Day Festival and the Apple Blossom Festival, to name a few. These benefits will be demonstrated through the numbers of people attending the events. The success of the events will be illustrated on KRCDA’s website. 3. The prevention or relief of poverty: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include signposting to the appropriate organisation e.g. Citizens Advice Bureau, Social Security Agency et al. through the assistance of the Age Co-Ordinator, which can in turn lead to increased access to the benefits they are entitled to and assistance with budgeting. Anyone in need, especially the youth and older people, can approach the Age Co-Ordinator. These benefits will be demonstrated through knowledge of the Age Co-Ordinator. With being involved with sensitive issues, the benefits will not be reported on the public domain. 4. The advancement of education: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include keeping people informed and increasing their knowledge, leading to more informed choices with regards to their lives; and widened skills and knowledge in various areas. These benefits will be demonstrated through post evaluation forms and/or a record of certificates received by members. 5. The advancement of health or the saving of lives: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include increased knowledge around health and the saving of lives by attending health fairs and paediatric first aid training, for example. These benefits will be demonstrated certificates received from training and the number of residents attending the health fairs. None of the purposes will lead to harm. For all five of the purposes, the charity’s beneficiaries are people living in Kinallen, Co Down. In relation to the five purposes, the only private benefit flowing from this purpose is the Society’s programme of ongoing training that a trustee may attend in relation to good governance, finance etc. Through this training, trustees gain skills and expertise which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

Kinallen Rural Community Development Association (KRCDA) is a group of Kinallen residents who work for the benefit of the whole community in Kinallen. We work with statutory bodies, local businesses and other community and voluntary organisations to improve living conditions for everyone in Kinallen. We help those feeling most isolated in
Kinallen by seeking to provide facilities for the youth, women and older people. We have worked to improve community spirit and pride in the area by organising social events for Kinallen residents. The news section of our website WWW.KRCDA.ORG demonstrates some of the community and cross-community events that the Association have helped organise over the last 2 years.
