1. Relief of poverty The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes income maximisation as a result of the provision of accurate up to date information on current benefits and entitlements legislation and assistance to access those benefits through our Advice centre, improved economic and social circumstances by the maximisation of full

benefit and grant entitlement income. Giving access to quality second hand goods through our two second hand retail outlets which results in an improvement of living standards and quality of life in the district of Springfield. 2. Education The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes enhanced education and understanding, increased skill and knowledge base, enhanced mobility of labour, and employment capacity, improved/enhanced employability and economic prospects through the advancement of career through volunteer and employment opportunities, reduced stress and worry and improved outlook for the residents in the district of Springfield. 3. Health or the saving of lives The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes improved physical, mental and emotional health by providing a day centre and Triage Project and working partnerships, with all relevant health, statutory and community support services, improved health and fitness through the provision of a Day Centre, Triage Project, programmes, events and activities supporting personal development, health promotion and healthy living, increased awareness of health issues and healthy living enhanced confidence and self esteem, enhanced personal, inter-community and cross community development. These benefits are demonstrated through the numbers using our facilities and activities and participation feedback. 4. Citizenship or community development The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes encouraging people to become active in a voluntary capacity and use our volunteer programme, facilities and activities to make life better. These benefits are demonstrated through the numbers using our facilities and activities and participation feedback. 5. The relief of those in need The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes income maximisation as a result of the provision of accurate up to date information on current benefits and entitlements legislation and assistance to access those benefits, improved economic and social circumstances by the maximisation of full benefit and grant entitlement income, improvement of living standards and quality of life and reduced stress and worry for the residents in the district of Springfield. Giving access to quality second hand goods through our two second hand retail outlets which results in an improvement of living standards and quality of life in the district of Springfield. 6. Other charitable purposes. We react to charitable opportunities and although we are bound to a geographical common bond: Springfield area, we respond topical and thematic issues. In the past we have led the way in west Belfast in respect of anti-racism by running an anti-racism campaign. SCA benefits the local people of 5 of the most deprived wards in NI. The charity's beneficiaries are the residents in the district of Springfield. All benefits are demonstrated through feedback from beneficiaries, participation evaluation forms, maintaining statistical data, beneficiary files detailing achievements and progression routes, staff and management annual reports, research, surveys and investigations into the needs and experiences of the residents in the district of Springfield and published for AGM. There is no harm or possibility of harm arising from any of the purposes. Directors receive private incidental benefit from the purposes by obtaining training and their experience of managing an organisation providing services which are transferable to other settings.

Springfield Charitable Association aims to improve the quality of life for those living in Belfast. Provides an Advice Centre and Second Hand Retail Outlets to prevent and relieve poverty in Springfield. The Advice Centre provides advice services in such matters as: benefits, financial, housing and employment tribunal advice. Provides a

Volunteer programme which works with the unemployed, the low employed (zero hours), ex-offenders, providing training opportunities and action learning through real work. Provides a Day Centre and Hydrotherapy Project which provides facilities and supplies services for older people. Provides a volunteer programme which rebuilds the motivation and esteem of many people. Hydrotherapy pool help people with pain and arthritis problems.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to promote all or any purposes for the benefit of the community in the district of Springfield in the city of Belfast (hereinafter called ‘’the area of benefit’’) which now are or may hereafter be deemed by law to be charitable: and in particular to advance education, relieve poverty distress or sickness and provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for health recreation and leisure-time occupation with the objective of improving conditions of life for the inhabitants of the said area.
