The purposes of Edgarstown Association shall be to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the area of benefit without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort: a) To maintain, improve or provide amenities for the
improvement of the physical environment; The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include a more pleasant environment in which to live, a focal point of the community and a more secure, safe environment. These benefits can be demonstrated by the establishment of Community centres, improvements in the community environs and established communication links between the organisation and local statutory and voluntary organisations. b) To advance education; The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include a better educated community with improved employability and a better understanding of community, the components and their effects. These benefits can be demonstrated by a safer, more caring and understanding community. c) To relieve poverty; The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include reducing the number of homeless, mental issues, isolation and health issues within the community. These benefits can be demonstrated by the reduced demand on the statutory authorities within the area. d) To provide and assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of the social welfare for the recreation and other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of the life of the inhabitants of the area of benefit; The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include a community centre, an organisation dedicated to the community needs, a source for assistance, encouragement and organisation of related events. These benefits can be demonstrated by improved community spirit, a more caring community and a community organisation that is the focal point for all the community and its needs. e) To promote all or any objects for the benefit of the inhabitants of the area of benefit which now and hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include all groups or individuals that will be affected by charitable acts or assistance. These benefits can be demonstrated by the number of charitable events and/or the value of assets/funds raised. The charity’s beneficiaries are the community. There is no harm flowing from the purposes. There is no private benefit flowing from the purposes.
