Public benefits

Purpose A: The benefit of providing space on favourable terms is the creation of job opportunities for people starting their own and working within existing businesses in the creative industries. It makes starting a business more affordable, simpler and less stressful. Serviced space and flexible leases are easier to manage and increase

productivity and focus. The use of shared facilities means businesses can access better and more professional facilities than if they were renting on their own. They also get to meet new people, who can help them and support them in growing their business. This reduces stress and anxiety. Space is rented solely to people working within the creative industries, this nurtures talent, creativity and innovation. These factors help people start and grow and work within creative industry businesses and create more job opportunities. The benefits of this are measured through occupancy levels, demand for space, feedback from users and the success rate of businesses that have been based with us. The benefits are provided to start up and existing businesses and people working within the creative industries. Purpose B The benefits which flow from technical assistance, business advice or consultancy include: the relief of unemployment through the provision of free and accessible education and training, the development of individual competencies, skills and increased business knowledge. This helps people to set up and grow their creative industry business which leads to job creation. The creative industries is a growing sector of the Northern Ireland economy; promoting, sustaining and increasing knowledge of creative industries skills and expertise leads to increased employment opportunities. The benefits of this will be measured by attendee sheets, feedback forms and surveys. The beneficiaries are artists, crafts persons and people seeking to set up, grow or work within an existing Creative Industry business. Purpose C The permanent gallery and multi-purpose space benefits the public through a higher level of education, understanding and knowledge of the arts, crafts and creative industries. The gallery allows people to showcase their work to the public. Provision of a multi-purpose space provides a professional space that creative businesses can use to grow their business by meeting clients and holding events, the space can also be used for events which develop individual competencies and skills within the creative industries. The creative industries is a growing sector of the Northern Ireland economy; improving knowledge of the creative industries leads to increased employment opportunities. The benefits of this are measured through feedback from users of the space, attendees at events and training and room usage numbers. The benefits are provided to start up and existing businesses and people working within the creative industries as well as the general public. Purpose D The benefit which flows from the information and support network is to bring together artists, crafts persons and creative industry businesses. This network allows people to develop relationships, encourages collaboration, networking, peer learning and provides support and inspiration. Being involved in a network gives people the chance to gain insights and exchange knowledge. This decreases stress and anxiety, encourages creativity and innovation and helps people to start, develop and work within creative industry businesses and increases job opportunities. The dissemination of information about local creative industries news and opportunities through social media gives people up-to-date information which helps them gain employment within or start and grow a creative industry business. What your organisation does

We provide creative and affordable shared space, facilities and resources for creative businesses, artists and crafts persons to grow and develop. We provide affordable shared and private workspace within 2 separate buildings in Belfast. Our properties have a creative yet professional work environment and a friendly, informal and supportive

atmosphere that encourages communication, collaboration and inspiration. Our workspace is affordable and with flexible leases so takes the risk out of renting property and is fully serviced so also eliminates the hassle for residents so they can concentrate on growing their businesses. Meeting rooms and event space is available free of charge for our residents and at affordable rates for outside creative businesses. We offer virtual services for creative businesses just starting out that can’t yet afford workspace or for those happy to work from home but seeking a professional public image for their business. Sharing resources such as Internet, utility costs and meeting rooms and minimising unnecessary overheads keeps our services affordable and means that we can provide better facilities than someone renting a space individually. Alongside this we also run a variety of creative industries business events which are always free to attend and accessible to anyone interesting in growing their creative industries business. We have a permanent gallery space in our Malone road studio which is free to use by application for local artists and designers. We also disseminate local, national and global creative industries news and opportunities through our social media networks for the benefit of the local creative community.
