Purposes: a. Provide facilities for young people to avail of from Woodvale and Greater Shankill areas. b. Provide opportunities for young people to take part in personal and social development programmes. c. Operate a one-to-one support for the community through counselling, life coaching and mentoring. d. Provide school-based programmes which
focus on issues affecting young people and their community. e. Provide opportunities for training and volunteering for local people from the community as well as those involved in youth work training through University or College. Purpose a, The direct benefit that flows from this purpose is a facility that will be situated in the local environment that sources the best possible services for the local community. This benefit is demonstrated by the location of the facility and the extent of continued funding grants, partnership working with other local organisations, a wide variety of programmes provided and regular attendance from the local community. Purpose b, The direct benefits that flow from this purpose include improved physical and mental health outcomes, increased engagement by young people through informal education, increased employment related skills, improved academical results. These benefits will be demonstrated by regular attendance from the young people, engagement with other appropriate organisations and a reduction in risk taking behaviour. Purpose c, The direct benefits that flow from this purpose is a community with increased mental health and social inclusion outcomes and decreased risk taking behaviour. This benefit will be demonstrated by clients decreasing use of medication, using appropriate coping techniques and engaging in other recreational, educational and/or employment opportunities. Purpose d, The direct benefits which flows from this purpose is partnership working to assist and support the learning opportunities of young people by removing possible barriers to learning. This will be demonstrated by ongoing engagement of young people in formal learning and development of young people and members of the community in other services within the organisation. Purpose e, The direct benefit that flows from this purpose is a professional, qualified workforce with current knowledge of guidelines, policies and procedures. This benefit is demonstrated by completion of training courses and insurance cover provided, were appropriate. A private benefit to this is the training of staff, volunteers and board members. Through this training individuals gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. These may be the possibility of harm when introducing new staff to the organisation. This can be minimised by confirming the necessary checks are completed and insurance cover is in place prior to engagement.
