Public benefits
The direct benefit which flows from this purpose is improvement of the sense of well being, social welfare and reduction of isolation for all residents of Sydenham Court living with dementia regardless of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious opinion. This benefit is evidenced through feedback on the improved
sense of well-being and reduced isolation of the residents from the residents themselves evident when they attend activities or events, their carers, families and staff along with interviews and reports carried out by health and social care trust and other agencies. We believe that this purpose will lead to no clearly identified harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are inhabitants of Sydenham Court and their environs. There may be private benefits from the provision of training and support to persons who provide activity or music workshops for the residents but these benefits would be incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. The direct benefit to the wider community which flows from this purpose is the improvement in awareness and understanding by the general public of the difficulties experienced by people living with dementia. This benefit is evidenced during any fundraising activities through feedback from the general public who would chat to the association members about dementia or local school children who take part in joint projects with residents at Sydenham Court. We believe that this purpose will lead to no clearly identified harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are inhabitants of Sydenham Court and their environs. No private benefits from this direct benefit would be envisaged.
