Public benefits

Noah’s Ark Playgroup provides a benefit to pre-school children from all sections of the community from the village of Waringstown and surrounding areas. The benefits for the pre-school children are improved personal, social and emotional development; improved language and interaction skills; improvement in the development of fine and gross motor

skills; improved creative and cognitive development, improvement in mathematical development and improved readiness for progression to Nursery/Primary One. Benefits are evidenced through written observations on each child from child’s own key worker; the End of Year written report given to each parent detailing how their child has progressed in each developmental area (i.e. Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Language Development, Mathematical Development, Physical Development, The Arts and The World Around Us.); written feedback from parents, which is given each term after having read their child’s observations for the term; written feedback from our Early Years Specialist, who visits the playgroup regularly to advise us and written feedback from the Trust (Southern Health and Social Services) following each Annual Inspection they carry out. Benefits can also be evidenced through the children’s work, which is either sent home weekly or displayed throughout the playgroup and sent home at the end of the year. We don’t believe that our playgroup is harmful to the children in our care. We have detailed policies in place to ensure children are safeguarded and kept from harm at all times. All staff members are fully vetted, highly trained and qualified. Each child is appointed a key worker, who will help them settle in and will carry out that child’s observations for the year. Our settling-in procedures ensure that new children feel comfortable in the playgroup, benefit from what it has to offer and become confident that their parents will return at the end of the session. Activities planned are for the appropriate age and developmental stage of the children. The premises are safe and secure. The playgroup has a detailed Health and Safety Policy. Risk Assessments are carried out and reviewed annually. We continually work in partnership with parents and will liaise with them regularly. Parents have the freedom of choice in whether their child attends or not.

What your organisation does

Noah's Ark Playgroup is a pre-school playgroup, which was established in September 1992. The playgroup is registered with The Southern Health & Social Care Trust and is a member of Early Years, the organization for young children. We are non-profit making, non-political, non-sectarian & committed to a policy of equal opportunities & to provide a

pre-school service, open to all sections of the community. Our staff members are fully vetted, qualified and experienced. All staff receive relevant training in Child Protection, First Aid, Food Hygiene, etc. and training is updated regularly. Noah's Ark is also registered with Craigavon Borough Council Environmental Health Department & has been awarded with a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 - Very Good. We provide a healthy snack each day, consisting of toast or cereal, fruit and milk or water. The playgroup is registered to take up to 22 children per session. Sessions run term time, Mon -Fri, from 9.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. & cost £9 each morning. Children must be toilet trained and aged between 2 yrs 10 months & school age to attend. The playgroup provides a morning programme of varied activities, which are carefully planned for the developmental stage of the children attending & incorporate the Early Learning Goals. A wide range of toys, books, puzzles, equipment and activities are on offer each day and these are changed weekly to maintain interest and to promote further learning development. Noah’s Ark offers both indoor and outdoor play. Open days are held in May when prospective children and their parents will be invited to view the playgroup and meet the staff. At Noah's Ark, we want every parent and child to feel welcome at all times and we believe that the friendly atmosphere will make you feel at home, from the moment you first step over the door. We trust that each and every child will enjoy their voyage of fun and discovery aboard Noah's Ark!
