Holywood Music Festival contributes to the advancement of the arts, culture, heritage and community development. Through the teachers who enter pupils in the Festival and through every entrant, Holywood Music Festival is instrumental in the advancement of their education - primarily their music education but also touching on history, geography
and culture through the composers and their music that they are studying. Preparing for and performing at a festival involves group activity and individual achievement and performers gain a deeper appreciation of their repertoire. The inspiration gained from skilled adjudicators raises standards and all should leave with a sense of achievement. Holywood Music Festival attracts visitors to the town which stimulates the economic growth of the town. It brings 3000 extra people to Holywood during the festival which encourages the growth of tourism and benefits the businesses in the town. The festival gives the town the opportunity to bring communities together and instil a sense of community pride as well as a greater developed knowledge of music history. Due to the strong volunteer investment in our festival, this sense of community pride is fostered and encouraged to grow, strengthening relationships. New skills are taught or upgraded through our volunteer training programme. The intended beneficiaries are the students who attend our lessons and all those members of the public who attend our performances. There is no harm or private benefit flowing from our purposes.
