The Society is cross community in nature, and holds nine meetings per year. These meetings provide opportunities for Society members and members of the public to meet and mix and to encourage the exchange of historical knowledge and views in a sociable atmosphere. Each meeting has a guest speaker with personal knowledge of or expertise in a
particular aspect of local or general history. The Society organises visits to places of historical interest. Society members have contributed to several publications relating to the history of North Belfast, and are also, with members of other similar societies, involved in encouraging the preservation of local historical buildings.
