Advancement of Religion The Ministry for Europe Trust (‘MET’) seeks to advance the Christian Faith in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland and also throughout a number of countries in Eastern Europe. A full list of the countries in which we operate may be found below. In the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, MET is involved
primarily in visiting homes to present the message of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Eastern Europe, MET provides practical assistance to churches and Christian organisations with which it has contact. MET also supplies Bibles to Eastern European countries, with Bibles distributed in schools to teachers, students and their families. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are the promotion of Christian values for the benefit of individuals. The indirect benefits which flow from this purpose include the moral improvement in society as a whole which religion is considered to encourage. Advancement of Education MET encourages the provision of education to children throughout Eastern Europe as it recognises the long-term benefits of education both to individuals and to society as a whole. In furtherance of this aim, MET builds school facilities including school buildings for children with learning difficulties. The benefits which flow from this purpose include: (i) The intellectual development and enhancement in knowledge and understanding of individual beneficiaries. (ii) An improved sense of well-being and increased self-esteem of individual beneficiaries as they develop new skills, capabilities and knowledge. These benefits will be evidenced through better examination results and progression to further studies, with beneficiaries ultimately equipped to enter into employment. The beneficiaries are children in developing Eastern European countries. The Prevention or Relief of Poverty and Relief of those in Need by reason of Youth, Age, Ill-Health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage The Christian message of love and encouragement is also advanced by MET through the provision of practical help and assistance to those suffering from poverty across Eastern Europe. MET provides material items such as food, clothing, accommodation and access to healthcare to individuals in need. The benefits which flow from this purpose include the alleviation of hunger, the provision of shelter and the relief of poverty. These benefits will be evidenced through a reduction in disease and mortality rates and a general improvement in health and well-being. There is also a wider benefit to communities and society in general in having a healthier population. The beneficiaries will be those living in poverty or deprivation in developing Eastern European countries. Advancement of Community Development We seek to assist in the regeneration of communities through the provision of financial assistance to churches for projects which support physical, social and economic improvements at community level. The benefits which flow from this purpose include a general improvement in well-being of individuals who participate in activities in a safe environment with a Christian ethos. Such activities also assist individuals in the development of skills and capabilities as well as increasing self-esteem. These benefits will be evidenced through feedback from individual beneficiaries. The beneficiaries will be individuals within communities in developing Eastern European countries who benefit from projects funded by us. The only private benefits flowing from our purposes are the following: i.The personal knowledge of members is enhanced through training, making them more employable for future job opportunities. ii.When visiting regions in Europe, travelling expenses of members are paid for by the organisation. However, we consider these benefits to be incidental and necessary in order to further our charitable purposes. We do not anticipate that
