The Public benefit which flows from our purposes are as follows; 1. To promote play based learning environments for all children (under statutory school age) (out of school care) (day care) (herein referred to as the beneficiaries of the area served Crossmaglen and its surrounding environments in County Down. Public Benefits • Children in the

Crossmaglen area have opportunities for play based learning provided in a local setting that is accessible to them at a cost that is reasonable & affordable. • Children in the Crossmaglen area benefit personally from the provision through a reduction in their social isolation which enables them to build positive friendships with their peers in their local community. • Children in the Crossmaglen area benefit as their physical and emotional health is increased facilitating an easier transition for them in the future to other educational / childcare settings. 2A. To advance the education of the beneficiaries by the provision of safe and satisfying group play with the rights of parents / carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the group : and to promote the preservation of health of the beneficiaries and Public Benefits • Parents / Cares of children in the Crossmaglen area benefit by being involved the activities of the playgroup particularly in relation to social events, fundraising and outings. • Parents are also given the opportunity to become committee members and benefit by an increase in their organisation / leadership/ governance knowledge and skills. • Parents are informed / signposted to other beneficial services in the area. 2B. to support the values and principles of early years Public Benefits • The General public are made aware of the values and principles of the early years movement which seeks to promote the rights of children and those who care for them. These benefits are demonstrated through • Each week through participation in the Cosy Corner Playgroup children from the Crossmaglen area participate in play based learning. The playgroup is based in the local community centre that is accessible to the families using the service and costs for participating families are kept to a reasonable & affordable level. • Each week through participation in the Cosy Corner Playgroup children from the Crossmaglen area join with their peers in a fun and friendly play environment where they get the opportunity to interact with each other thereby building positive friendships which continue into their school year. • Each week through participation in the Cosy Corner Playgroup children from the Crossmaglen area take part in physical and energetic play that helps stimulate and develop both their physical and emotional wellbeing. • At regular intervals parents and carers of children from the Crossmaglen are involved in the activities of the playgroup through social events, fundraising and outings. • A number of parents act as committee members and avail of training and development opportunities provided by the playgroup committee. • Parents are regularly informed and signposted through monthly newsletters, social media, emails and face to face conversations with the staff of the Cosy Corner playgroup. Harm There is no harm flowing from our purposes. Private Benefit Some of the trustees and volunteers of the Cosy Corner Playgroup gain experience and skills that are transferable to other settings but this is incidental and necessary in ensuring the benefits above are delivered.

What your organisation does

We manage and develop our group to provide children with opportunities for free play in a well-planned, stimulating environment. We provide programmes each weekday from 9.30-1pm and these include opportunities for personal, social and emotional development as well as cognitive, physical, creative and communicative learning opportunities .This

done through activities such as; • Role play • Natural materials – clay/water / sand • Story / drama and rhyme activities • Physical / energetic play • Creative / imaginative art & play • Outdoor activities

Charitable purposes

The group is established to promote play based learning environments for all children under statutory school age (out of school hereinafter referred to as the beneficiaries of the area served in Crossmaglen and its surrounding environs in County Armagh (hereinafter called the 'area of benefit') without distinction of age gender, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, political or religious opinion by associating the statutory authorities, community and voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and in particular; a to advance the education of the beneficiaries by the provision of safe and satisfying group play with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of the group; and to promote the preservation of health of the beneficiaries; and b. to support the values and principles of Early Years.
