Public benefits
The trustees believe that our purpose satisfies both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improved outcomes for physical mental and emotional health wellbeing and development with reduced levels of stress and anxiety and increased levels of social interaction and confidence. These
benefits are demonstrated through feedback from the children and young people participating in these activities, their parents and health care professionals. Participation in horse and pony riding and other equine assisted activities carries a risk of physical injury however this is greatly reduced through the application of health and safety measures including protective clothing and equipment, appropriate supervision. The benefit of participation in the activities greatly outweighs the harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are children and young people with disabilities and special needs. A private benefit to trustees may arise from a programme of ongoing training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit provided to our beneficiaries.
