Public benefits
The Direct benefit that flow from the purpose is the enjoyment and enhanced understanding of the Arts and in particular Musical Theatre for the benefit of the General Public of Northern Ireland and further afield through touring. These benefits can be evidenced in records kept of public attendance of shows and concerts Some private benefit is
obtained by an employed director/choreographer of staged shows but this is outweighed by the enhancement of performance and is a benefit to the general public in context of the main purpose. There is no harm.
... [more] [less]What your organisation does
The Company draws its membership from many parts of the community - heterosexual, gay; teenagers, elderly; able-bodied and those with disabilities; protestant, catholic and others. As well as educating the public, it also educates the membership, encouraging members to take on roles, both onstage and backstage, which will develop their individual
skills and ensure a collective result which will be enjoyed by the wider public. Shows are cast from within the membership (as far as possible) and members are given opportunities to develop solo skills in concerts. This keeps costs down and ensures their development and coaching in performing arts. Guidance and training is also provided in backstage skills - stagehands, costume ladies, makeup, props.
