THE PROVISION OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO BENEFIT THE INHABITANTS OF THE RATHGILL AREA AND ITS OUTLYING ENVIRONS IN THE SOUTH DOWN AREA; PUBLIC BENEFIT STATEMENT: THE TRUSTEES BELIEVE THAT BOTH ELEMENTS OF THE PUBLIC BENEFIT REQUIREMENT ARE SATISFIED. THE DIRECT BENEFITS FLOWING FROM THIS PURPOSE ARE THAT THE INHABITANTS OF RATHGILL WILL HAVE ACCESS

TO EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS TO HELP ENRICH THEIR LEISURE TIME THAT OTHERWISE WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE. THESE BENEFITS CAN BE EVIDENCED BY FEEDBACK FROM THE PEOPLE WHO TAKE PART IN THE COURSES. THE PURPOSE OF THE COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION IS BENEFICIAL AND THERE IS NO HARM. THE BENEFICIARIES OF THIS PURPOSE ARE THE MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC THAT ATTEND THE COURSES. THE PROVISION OF FACILITIES IN WHICH THE SOCIAL WELFARE OF THE INHABITANTS OF RATHGILL CAN USE FOR THEIR RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE TIME AND ALSO IN WHICH THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS CAN BE RUN; PUBLIC BENEFIT STATEMENT: THE TRUSTEES BELIEVE THAT BOTH ELEMENTS OF THE PUBLIC BENEFIT REQUIREMENT ARE SATISFIED. THE DIRECT BENEFITS THAT FLOW FROM THIS PURPOSE ARE THAT BENEFICIARIES HAVE A COMMUNITY CENTRE WHICH IS OPEN TO ALL REGARDLESS OF SEX, RACE OR POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS OR OTHER OPINIONS. THESE BENEFITS CAN BE EVIDENCED BY FEEDBACK FROM THE ATTENDEES. THE PURPOSE IS BENEFICIAL AND THERE IS NO HARM. THE BENEFICIARIES OF THIS PURPOSE ARE ALL THE INHABITANTS OF THE KILKEEL AREA AND ITS ENVIRONS AS IT IS OPEN TO ALL WHO REQUIRE IT. IN RELATION TO ALL OF THE ABOVE, A PRIVATE BENEFIT TO TRUSTEES AND STAFF MAY ARISE FROM TRAINING IN GOOD GOVERNANCE, FINANCE AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS THAT WOULD BE AVAILABLE TO ALL. THROUGH THIS TRAINING, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE ACQUIRED WHICH ARE TRANSFERABLE TO OTHER WORK PLACES. THESE BENEFITS ARE INCIDENTAL AND NECESSARY TO ENSURE THE BENEFIT IS PROVIDED TO OUR BENEFICIARIES. THE WHOLE PUBLIC WILL BENEFIT FROM EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMES AND PROJECTS WHICH WE WILL PROVIDE WITHIN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY. THESE PROGRAMMES WILL PROVIDE HEALTH AND WELL BEING, MENTAL HEALTH, EDUCATIONAL WHICH WILL HELP GAIN QUALIFICATIONS. SERVICES FROM STATUTORY AGENCIES SUCH AS ADVICE CLINICS ON BENEFITS, CRIME PREVENTION, HOUSING ADVICE, DRUG AND ALCOHOL SERVICES AND WE WILL ALSO PROVIDE A SIGNPOSTING SERVICE FOR ANY PUBLIC SERVICES AVAILABLE WHICH OUR LOCAL RESIDENTS MAY REQUIRE. REGULAR COMMUNITY CLEAN UPS WILL BE ORGANISED TO IMPROVE THE APPEARANCE OF THE AREA AND PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES FOR RESIDENTS TO SOCIALIZE AND PARTICIPANT IN EVENTS TOGETHER THEREFORE PROMOTING GOOD CITIZENSHIP AND HARMONY WITHOUT THE DISTINCTION OF RELIGIOUS OR CULTURAL BACKGROUNDS. FEES ARE NOT CHARGED FOR THIS SERVICE AND NONE OF OUR COMMITTEE MEMBERS WILL OBTAIN ANY PRIVATE BENEFIT. THERE IS NO HARM FLOWING FROM OUR PURPOSES. THE BENEFICARIES ARE THE RESIDENTS WITHIN THE RATHGILL AND BANGOR NORTH DOWN AREA.

RATHGILL COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION PROVIDES FOR THE LOCAL INHABITANTS A PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP, VARIOUS PROGRAMS FOR OLDER CITIZENS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND A SOCIAL MEETING GROUP WITH LIGHT LUNCH FOR OLDER CITIZENS. THROUGH THESE PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES RATHGILL COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION AIMS TO PROMOTE GOOD COMMUNITY RELATIONS THROUGH ALL AGE GROUPS AND

THEREBY IMPROVING LIFE FOR ALL THE INHABITANTS OF RATHGILL AND ITS SURROUNDING AREAS.

Charitable purposes

The Association is established to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Rathgill area and its environs (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit”), without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic identity, nationality, disability, or political, religious or other opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to:- (a) promote education and training; (b) relieve those in need by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage; (c) promote health and well-being and healthy recreation; (d) provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants; (e) promote environmental improvement and otherwise improve the appearance of the area of benefit; (f) promote, for the general benefit of the community, good citizenship and harmony within the community between persons of different religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds; (g) establish, or secure the establishment, of a Community Resource Centre and to maintain and manage the same (whether alone or in co-operation with any local authority or other person or body) in furtherance of these objects; (h) promote all or any objects for the benefit of the inhabitants of the area of benefit which now or hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable.
