Public benefits
Purpose 1: Relieve the suffering of, and assist and support, survivors/victims of physical, sexual or mental abuse suffered whilst in the care of institutions, without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic identity, or religious or political opinion by: SAVIA meets the public benefit requirement by providing social support
programmes to those adversely affected by physical, sexual or mental abuse whilst in the care of institutions. The general public will benefit from advice, guidance, support and therapeutic services to overcome suffering, anxiety and feelings of isolation. Beneficiaries will have improved health outcomes, reduces stress/anxiety levels, improved self confidence, improved self worth and be more active members of society. The benefits are demonstrated through the use of questionnaires, one to one interviews and government statistics. We gain feedback through social media and receive feedback from individuals and groups about our activities and the progress of theirs. In the provision of therapeutic services beneficiaries may have to relive their experiences and suffer feelings of anxiety and stress however the benefits outweigh the harm. A private benefit may arise to trustees in the form of training in good practice, governance, finance and therapeutic training. These benefits are incidental and are necessary to ensure that benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. No fees are charged for our services as we receive funding for the delivery of these. Purpose 2: Raise awareness among the public about the nature, extent and effects of institutional abuse, its impact on individuals and the community and ways of preventing or relieving the suffering it causes. The general public will learn from raised awareness of institutional abuse and from the victims and survivors of these events. Many individuals within the general population are in a similar position but are alone, these individuals will gain hope, knowledge and information that will aid them in resolution to their own circumstances with a positive outcome as well as relieving their suffering and preventing this from happening again. We operate a drop-in centre which is open
to all persons without distinction of age,Gender,Sexual orientation, race,ethnic identity or religious or political opinions. we mentor, encourage and facilitate the development of mutual support networks. We advocate on behalf of and represent the views of survivors and victims.

Charitable purposes
The Charity’s objects (‘the Objects’) are to:- (1) Relieve the suffering of, and assist and support, survivors/victims of physical, sexual or mental abuse suffered whilst in the care of institutions, without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnic identity, or religious or political opinion by: (a) providing or assisting in the provision of counselling and other therapeutic services; (b) providing advice, information and a signposting / referral service; (c) encouraging and facilitating the development of mutual support networks; (d) operating a drop-in centre; (e) advocating on behalf of, and representing the views of, such survivors/victims. (2) Raise awareness among the public about the nature, extent and effects of institutional abuse, its impact on individuals and the community and ways of preventing or relieving the suffering it causes.
