Crumlin Senior Citizens Club exists to advance education, relieve poverty and provide facilities in the interests of health improvement and the protection of welfare among the older people, aged 50+ in Crumlin. This is achieved through the provision of educational resources, access to activities including recreational activities and to social

services. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes improvement in conditions for the life of the older people, 50+, to improve their health and well-being and lead to a reduction in the chances of social isolation happening. The purpose which flows from this is to increase skill, enjoyment and social interaction, improvement in mental and physical health. This is demonstrated through having access to resources, equipment, courses, information and transport which would not otherwise be available and through providing opportunities to meet and interact. The purpose will not lead to harm. The benefit is for all of the older people, 50+ within Crumlin and its surrounding area and is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. This is demonstrated through having an active Senior Citizens group who come together weekly, increasing their participation in activities, skills and improving their well-being. Crumlin Senior Citizens Club raises awareness to the general public of the needs and experience of older people, 50+ in the Crumlin area. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes improvement in information and awareness levels among the general public so as to improve the health and well-being of the older people of the area. The purpose which flows is to increase awareness levels. The purpose will not lead to harm. The benefit is for all of the older people, 50+ within Crumlin and its surrounding area and is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. This is demonstrated through the partnership and networking within the community and other bodies to promote research, talks and training courses. The only private benefit flowing from the purposes is a sense of wellbeing for the volunteers from volunteering but this is incidental in achieving the purposes

What your organisation does

Crumlin Seniors Citizens Club are a group made up of 35 members who are in the over 50’s age group who meet at Crumlin Football Club weekly. The group is open to all over 50’s and welcomes this age group, male and female, from any religious or ethnic minority, able bodied or with disabilities from within the Crumlin area. The group was set up to

provide this age group with the opportunity to learn new skills, interact with each other as they now had some free time on their hands due to retirement and with a chance to socialise with others within the Crumlin area. Past activities have included talks on healthy eating, cookery skills, crafts, exercise classes including yoga/line dancing, information days, health and safety talks, geneology, storytelling sessions and trips. Crumlin Senior Citizens are a non-profit community group which is run by a 5 committee members made up of at least 4 members attending each session which takes place once a month. The community group has been in existence for the past 17 years. We meet fortnightly 2-4pm for our Senior Citizens Afternoon Tea ,Bingo and either a Quiz , Boccia or invited guest .

Charitable purposes

The Group is established to advance education, relieve poverty and promote the preservation and protection of health and welfare among older people, aged 50 and over, of Crumlin and its environs (hereinafter called ‘the area of benefit’) and in particular to: a) provide facilities, in the interest of social welfare, for recreation and other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for older people in the area of benefit; b) raise awareness among the general public of the experiences and needs of older people in the area of benefit;
