Purpose 1 The direct benefit flowing from this, is a safe and neutral facility for residents of the said area of benefit to use for meetings or training courses with various educational or government bodies. The benefit is evidenced by word of mouth from the attendees and feedback after using the centre from the organisational bodies. This purpose

does not lead to any harm. The benefit is for all inhabitants within the environs of Taughrane, Ballymacateer, Edenballycoggill, Killfullert and Ballymacmaine. A private benefit flowing from this is that a trustee or family member may use the centre in the same manner as all other residents. This is purely incidental and necessary, so that the benefit is available to all. Also the direct benefit is a united community which has come together as one to achieve its targets. Further benefits is a more vibrant and inclusive society via the educational programmes and recreational activities. These benefits are evidenced through the diverse set up within the Society, also through feedback generated from the activities laid on by the Society. The purpose does not lead to any harm. These benefits are for all residents within Taughrane, Ballymacateer, Edenballycoggill, Killfullert and Ballymacmaine area. Private benefits from these are purely incidental and necessary to any Society member, as family members of all can avail of any opportunities arising. Another direct benefit flowing from our purpose is a more informed society and healthier community lifestyle, giving them a better standard of living conditions and environment. Also a greater understanding of Ulster Scots heritage. This is evidenced by feedback both qualitative and quantitative. This benefit is for all within the Taughrane, Ballymacateer, Edenballycoggill, Killfullert and Ballymacmaine community. The private benefit for Society members is in line with the rest of the community, which is gaining a healthier lifestyle, and being better informed. This is purely incidental and necessary so that the benefit is available to all.

What your organisation does

Dollingstown Ulster Scots Cultural and Heritage Society (DUSCHS) is a community-based voluntary-led organisation. DUSCHS aim to provide a good range of services and activities for our community in a rural area. Activities aim to provide social interaction and learning opportunities for all sections of the community of all ages. We provide

facilities for social, recreational and educational activity. Education & training facilitated includes life-long learning and community capacity programmes. We have been able to give the local community the opportunity to learn new skills and improve existing skills. We meet identified community needs through community development initiatives. All programmes are delivered through the principle of equality, in an effort to advance education and to preserve the environment and heritage within the area. The group deliver cultural programmes. Our objective is to improve the overall well being of our local community and to provide a fun, learning experience and build strong community relations. In recent years the organisation has aimed to tackle rural poverty and rural isolation. We aim to reach the heart of our community by providing a centre for people to come and be included, thus encouraging integration, reducing loneliness and tackling poverty and social exclusion. We have a warm, comfortable, accessible hall in which our community can meet. DUSCHS provide community facilities and programmes for the relief of rural poverty e.g. older people's Christmas Dinner, public information events, etc. We meet the educational needs of the local community, e.g. I.T. Courses, community development courses, good relations training, etc. We provide facilities and programmes for recreational, cultural and heritage activity, e.g. Ulster Scots history and language classes, Ulster Scots cookery, World War I history exhibitions, quoits, table quizzes, etc.

Charitable purposes

The purposes of the charity are: the relief of need and the advancement of education of the inhabitants of the Dollingstown area and its environs in the Taughrane, Ballmacateer, Edenballycoggill, Killfullert and Ballymacmaine areas(hereinafter described as "the area of benefit") without distinction of age, sex, race disability, political, religious or other opinion. It will do so by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of the social welfare, education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life foe the said inhabitants; To advance knowledge and appreciation of the Ulster-Scots language and culture and to encourage understanding and acceptance of all indigenous cultures to the area of benefit.
