Public benefits
The trustees are satisfied that both elements of public benefit are met: The direct benefits flowing from the purposes include the improved provision of opportunities for all sections of the community to be informed and involved in learning about the heritage of their localities, in particular the Barony of Lecale and adjacent areas in County Down,
and the gaining of knowledge in these subjects. The benefits can be demonstrated through feedback from Society members and the wider public who receive information through lectures and publications. The beneficiaries are the public at large and particularly those residents of the Barony of Lecale and adjacent areas of County Down who are interested in the local history and environment of the area. There are no private benefits or harms flowing from the charitable purposes.
