Public benefits

Purpose (a) The Trustees have considered the Commission’s guidance on public benefit and, in particular, the specific guidance on charities for the advancement of religion. As a result of our faith, we willingly and consistently reach out to welcome visitors to our church. We enable ordinary people to live out their faith as part of our fellowship

through worship and prayer, learning about the Gospel and developing their knowledge and trust in Jesus and the challenge to live for God and be obedient to His will for their lives. As a Christian organisation, our aim is to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ firstly in our local community and the surrounding areas, by church planting and supporting missionary work. We aim to make a positive contribution in our local community by inviting the general public to concert scenes, drama productions, church services, prayer for the sick and youth / children’s work. All these activities are in conjunction with our regular church services. All organised activities and events are of a non-profit basis and are funded by the Church through offerings and donations. Concerts and drama productions are free of charge and are paid for by the congregation’s contributions. The church actively seeks to support marriages and family through biblical instruction and practical support. These benefits can be demonstrated in the lives of people of all ages, nationalities and cultures who have come to faith in Christ, bringing to them forgiveness, peace, hope and joy to their lives. As a result of now living a Christian life their families and marriages have been greatly helped, numbers of broken marriages being restored again. This has resulted in family stability and wellbeing and an increased ability to contribute positively to society. A number of single parent families have seen a transformation in the behaviour of their children as they are now surrounded by people who are very positive role models. This transformation has been clearly evident in their conduct and performance at school. The biblical teaching they receive on a variety of life skills, such as time management, conflict resolution, work habits has greatly improved the quality of their lives, for some reducing stress and enabling them to find and maintain employment. With the diversity of nationalities that attend the church, many people have been greatly helped in integrating into Belfast society. People of all ages, both regular attendees and visitors to the church have experienced these benefits. The churches investment in missionary work has brought these same benefits to the nations we have invested in (Primarily Nigeria and Trinidad). Purpose (b) The people who attend the church and those that they come into contact with benefit in a number of ways both through prevention and relief of poverty and sickness as detailed below: The church provides regular instruction on financial planning enabling many to prepare and maintain a household budget, the benefits being, bills being paid on time, credit card debt and rent arrears being reduced, relieving a great deal of stress. When issues of an urgent nature arise people have benefited by receiving financial assistance, and items such as food, furniture, clothing, fuel and transportation on the basis of their need. People’s health has benefited as a result of teaching on the importance of diet and exercise, resulting in improved physical wellbeing. Those who are sick have benefited through the comfort, care, encouragement, prayer and practical help that has been provided, through home and hospital visitation. This organisation is not aware of any detriment or harm that might arise from its activities. This organisation aims to benefit anyone and everyone and with no restrictions on who can have the opportunity to benefit. No-one receives any private benefit from this organisation other than as a beneficiary.
