Public benefits
In the prevention or relief of poverty, the direct benefits which flow from our purpose are :- the raising of self esteem, self confidence, and that the clients would come to realise their value within the community. To empower them into social inclusion. As a new organisation we plan to use the Outcome Stars Tools as a way to promote and measure
client change, together with the feedback from our clients. We believe there is no harm flowing from our purpose. The beneficiaries of our purpose are those members of the general public residing in the triangle area of Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart, who through social or economic hardship find themselves in a distressing situation. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is in the training of volunteers which is incidental and necessary and could be used in other settings. In the relief of those in need by reason of youth, age, disability, financial hardship, ill health or other disadvantage, the direct benefits:- are the strengthening and developing of family and personal relationships. As a new organisation we plan to use the Outcome Stars Tools as a way to promote and measure client change, together with the feedback from our clients. We believe there is no harm flowing from our purpose. The beneficiaries from our purpose are dysfunctional families living in the triangle area of Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart. They may be single or two parent families with young children or teenagers experiencing financial hardship or health related problems. The only benefit flowing from this purpose is again in the training of volunteers which is incidental and necessary and could be used in other settings. In the advancement of health or the saving of lives the direct benefits which flow are - self confidence, improved self worth, raised self esteem, together with improved general health and social integration. As a new organisation we plan to use the Outcome Stars Tools as a way to promote and measure client change, together with the feedback from our clients. The only harm which may incur is the clients distancing themselves from old friends who may have been preventing them from moving on to improve their health and lifestyles. The benefit of this outweighs the harm. The beneficiaries from our purpose are the members of the general public who are experiencing mental health problems, drug and alcohol misuse living in the triangle area of Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose.

The organisation works in the triangle area of Coleraine, Portrush and Portstewart. However we've had clients from as far away as Belfast and Derry via a local shelter accommodation. These people have either been or currently are misusing alcohol and or drugs. These could be prescribed or bought. Because of their dependence they may be suffering
from mild anxiety to mental illness. We offer one to one support tailored to each individual need. We provide help in completing forms and applications to social services, pensions and housing providers. We help clients to keep doctor's and other medical appointments, and collect prescriptions and deliver medications. This reduces wasted appointments and professional time. We also provide workshops for groups for 4-12 people over 12 week periods. These groups encourage clients to interact whilst teaching them cookery and gardening skills. Personal goals are set with individuals which challenge their way of thinking and reactions, and help them to recognise their achievements and encourage them. Our work has helped one young client to gain employment in a local restaurant. With support, counselling and encouragement he felt strong enough to attend for an interview which we set up and was successful. He is now in employment and no longer receives benefits.. This client encouraged another family member to help out and participate in our allotment project. Our project has included young teenagers from dysfunctional homes. These 12-15 year olds became confident and able to discuss their feelings about life at home, siblings, and school problems. They learned how to interact rather then react towards each other. They also learned some basic cooking skills such as making pizza, cooking pasta. They learned how to set up a table and to wash and tidy up afterwards. The feed back from the children and their parents was very positive, with both groups remarking on the difference and impact this had in their homes.
