Public benefits

Purpose (1) is to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ amongst the general public, in accordance with Biblical principles and practice, in Northern Ireland, the UK and abroad, in a manner consistent with our Statement of Faith. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the provision of a place of worship where public services and other

activities meet the spiritual, physical, emotional and pastoral needs of a wide range of age-groups; the communication of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the general public, resulting in personal faith in him followed by a law-abiding, moral and Godly lifestyle. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from church members, those who attend activities, their families and the community in which we serve. There is no harm arising from this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are the general public. The only private benefit arising from this purpose is that the trustees benefit personally, but only in the same way as any member of the public could do. This benefit is therefore incidental and necessary to achieve this purpose. Purpose (2) is to prevent or relieve poverty among those in hardship in Northern Ireland, the UK and abroad. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the easing of deprivation through the improved financial standing, living conditions and health of the beneficiaries. These benefits are demonstrated through reports from the beneficiaries or those in direct contact with them. Harm may arise from this purpose if the beneficiaries become dependent on external support. This harm will be reduced by relying on experienced contacts to allocate resources to target specific deprivation, to such an extent that the benefit outweighs the harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are members of the general public who are experiencing some degree of deprivation in their lives. There is no private benefit arising from this purpose. Purpose (3) is to relieve those in need by reason of adverse circumstances in Northern Ireland, the UK and abroad. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the provision of financial or material relief for those subject to religious or ethnic persecution, for those who are refugees, and for those who are suffering because of a natural disaster such as earthquake, famine or flood. These benefits are demonstrated through improved living conditions, health and physical safety of the beneficiaries. There is no harm arising from this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are members of the general public who are in need by reason of some disadvantage. There is no private benefit arising from this purpose. Purpose (4) is to advance education by supporting existing schools and by providing out of school educational opportunities in Northern Ireland, the UK and abroad. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the enhanced provision of schooling and vocational training, enhanced knowledge and understanding in young people, and improved job opportunities for the recipients. These benefits are demonstrated through reports from those individuals and organisations in receipt of support, detailing the improvements that have been made. There is no harm arising from this purpose. The charity’s beneficiaries are members of the general public who have been unable to avail of educational opportunities because of adverse circumstances in their lives, or who wish to take advantage of the vocational training on offer. There is no private benefit arising from this purpose.

What your organisation does

The church meets regularly to enjoy worship, communion, prayer and Bible teaching; to study the Bible in small groups; to instruct children in the stories of the Bible; to meet with missionaries and hear their reports of God’s work in other countries; to meet with representatives of para-church and charitable organisations to learn about their

work; and to engage in activities which encourage the expression of our Christian faith in practical ways. We support financially and prayerfully missionaries and charities sharing our purposes in their work throughout the world.
