Public benefits
Public Benefit The direct benefits that flow from our purpose are the following: Churches are established for believers seeking to grow in their understanding of their faith by providing them with Christian teaching, church services for worship and prayer, creating a network of friendship. Pastoral counselling is given in these churches: to
train believers to live the Christian lifestyle in every area of their lives to prepare people for marriages to help overcome addictions to support those who are sick to support those who face personal challenges in their lives (such as marriage failures, past abuse…) Invitations and visits to foreign countries reap the benefit of training sessions for those who are leaders in those countries. The leaders are encouraged and made to feel that are not alone as they face some of the most difficult circumstances of poverty and war. Projects in foreign countries bring a sense of relief from poverty when we are able to help in practical ways. Working with both the general public and church members in these ways will help to alleviate stress from their lives, give a sense of hope for the future, and generally make them better and positive citizens with fulfilled lives. The best way these benefits are being demonstrated is by the personal testimonies of those who have been taught or helped. It is hard to measure the joy of a person whose life has been turned around for the better! Another obvious way of demonstrating the benefits is to note the number of people who have committed themselves to regular church attendance and church activities. Some harm may be risked when making mission trips to foreign nations where there is poverty or the war. This is incidental because obviously one must go to where people are in need, often in the midst of difficult circumstances. To offset the risk, training is provided for safety, cross cultural understanding, and submission to leadership is required. This way, the possibility of harm is minimized and the benefits brought to the recipients far outweigh the calculated risks to harm. The charity’s intended beneficiaries include both adherent of the Christian faith who desire to grow in that faith, plus those who are not believers but need mercy and hope, and those who struggle with the issues of life both at home and globally. There may be some private benefits from the work of this charity, but they are all incidental. For instance, the trustees gain experience in administrating mission projects, which increases their own life skills that may be transferrable to other settings. For those who travel to foreign countries, much is gained by personal exposure and experience that really can’t be learned in other ways. Such experiences are also transferrable to other settings, but again this is incidental and necessary as these mission projects can’t be done without the workers going there.
