a) Purpose To aid by grants from the funds of the Society for and towards the education, maintenance and advancement in life of Orphans of Ministers, Missionaries and Deaconesses of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. Such assistance shall, in each case, be given with due regard to the circumstances and needs of such orphans. Each case must
be reconsidered at the annual period of distribution. Except in cases of students for the Ministry, no assistance shall be given to persons above 25 years of age. Preference shall be given to orphans who have lost both parents. Public Benefit · The direct benefit that flows from this purpose is that the wellbeing of orphans of Ministers, Missionaries and Deaconesses is enhanced by financial needs being addressed and/or poverty alleviated. · These benefits are demonstrated by informal feedback from the families of the beneficiaries. The Honorary Secretary is in contact with the families annually. · There is no harm or potential for harm as a result of the purpose being carried out. · The intended beneficiaries are orphans of Ministers, Missionaries and Deaconesses of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. · No one gains private benefit as a result of the purpose being carried out. b) Purpose To assist Ministers, Missionaries and Deaconesses in necessitous circumstances in the education, maintenance and advancement in life of their children subject to the limit of age stated in paragraph (a) of this clause provided that any funds are available after providing for orphans aforesaid, as the directors of the Society (hereinafter referred to as "the directors") shall in their absolute discretion determine. Public Benefit · The direct benefit that flows from this purpose is that the wellbeing of children of Ministers, Missionaries and Deaconesses in necessitous circumstances is enhanced by financial needs being addressed and/or poverty alleviated. · The benefits are demonstrated by informal and unsolicited feedback from some of the beneficiaries. Application forms from families are subject to a points system which includes testing of means and outlining special circumstances (for example, highlighting families where children have special needs). This ensures beneficiaries are in need of assistance and they will benefit from the financial grants provided. · There is no harm or potential for harm as a result of the purpose being carried out. · The intended beneficiaries are the children of Ministers, Missionaries and Deaconesses of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, those children being in necessitous circumstances. · No one gains private benefit as a result of this purpose being carried out.
