Public benefits

The benefits of Salto Gymnastics Centre are: lifelong physical activity amongst people of all ages through gymnastics education, enhancement of physical literacy of the general public including people with special needs, reduce health concerns over child obesity through fitness and physical activity, improve the quality of life and well being for

all whether they are participants or spectators, provide social interaction. We are able to demonstrate our benefits being achieved as we keep attendance registers, we operate a proficiency award scheme programme whereby the participants can work through gymnastic levels from level 8 up to level 1, results from competitions which demonstrate the development of the participants and we have an extensive waiting list of over 700 people wanting to join our classes. Our beneficiaries are the general public but we specifically cater for children from 6 months to 3 years via our parents and toddler sessions, children from age 3 to 5 via our structured kindergym classes, children age 5 up to young adult age via our structured recreation classes. We have several schools who attend on a weekly basis during term time in order to fulfil their curricular and extra-curricular gymnastics requirements. We also have special needs children who attend on a weekly basis. Due to being a sporting organisation we are more prone to accidents. However all our participants attending structured classes are all individually insured via a gymnastics governing body. All our coaches are experienced and hold UKCC coaching qualifications, are Access NI checked and have attended safe guarding and first aid courses. For these reasons we are assured the benefits outweigh any harm. I confirm no member of staff or the board of trustees obtain any benefit from Salto Gymnastics Centre. Occasionally we rent our facility to other gymnastics clubs throughout Ireland but they have the use of the premises on the same basis as our local, regular attendees

What your organisation does

We provide a facility and coaching to engage the general public to participate in physical education, mainly gymnastics. On a weekly basis approximately 1800 participants attend Salto Gymnastics Centre with ages ranging from 6 months to mid 20s. The organisation provides a wide programme of activities giving the opportunity for all people,

including people with physical and mental disabilities, regardless of background to be educated in gymnastics and participate for health, fitness and technical expertise. The benefits for all participants are broader than learning skills and techniques. In addition to the mass participation from the general public, the organisation has added the aspiration of delivering excellence in performance of the elite gymnast.
