The purposes of Ards Business Centre Ltd are the promotion for the public benefit of urban and rural regeneration in the Ards Borough area by all or any of the following means: 1. the relief of poverty in such ways as may be thought fit The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include supporting individuals from economic in activity into
self employment or employment improving their standard of living. These benefits can be demonstrated by assisting 187 individuals from November 2014 to October 2015 to create 68 businesses and 90 jobs. 2. the relief of unemployment in such ways as may be thought fit, including assistance to find employment The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the transition of individuals from economic inactivity into self employment or employment and gaining a recognised qualification. These benefits can be demonstrated by 30 individuals, between 2012 and 2015 obtaining an OCR Level 2 Qualification in Understanding Business Enterprise enhancing their employability status, creating 26 businesses and creating 30 jobs. 3. the advancement of education, training or retraining, particularly among unemployed people, and providing unemployed people with work experience The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the development of employment capacity and pathways enabling clients into self employment or employment, creating and maintaining 90 jobs from November 2014 to October 2015. This provided individuals with training and personal development skills enabling them to pursue self employment as a viable option. These benefits can be demonstrated by 187 individuals being assisted between November 2014 and October 2015, creating 68 businesses and 90 jobs. 4. the provision of financial assistance, technical assistance, business advice or consultancy in order to provide training and employment opportunities for unemployed people in cases of financial or charitable need through help (i) in setting up their own business, or (ii) to existing businesses The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the transition of individuals into self employment through a process of pre start and start up support mechanisms, providing the individuals with all of the above benefits. These benefits can be demonstrated by currently assisting the sustainability and growth potential of 90 small businesses, conducting 40 start up and pre start activities and providing support with all the above benefits. 5. the creation of training and employment opportunities by the provision of workspace, buildings and/or land for use on favourable terms The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the provision of various sizes of business incubation workspace, offices and units for use on favourable terms, on an easy in easy out basis. These benefits can be demonstrated by the transition of individuals into self employment by providing business incubation workspace ranging from offices, manufacturing and retail providing the beneficiary with all of the above benefits. The beneficiaries are residents and businesses located within Ards Borough Council area, for the purpose of urban regeneration to set up and operate their own business. We currently assist 67 small businesses with the provision of business incubation workspace ranging from office, manufacturing and retail enabling 35 new business start ups with all the above benefits. There is no harm flowing from this purpose. The public and beneficiary benefit statement and activities stated above do not benefit any unintended beneficiaries, nor is there any identifiable or intend harm flowing from any of the purposes. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose. To meet these objectives, the Centre carries out the following activities:- - the provision of workspace accommodation to small businesses at favourable terms including rent and letting arrangements; - delivering programmes and providing advice for the support of the main areas of enterprise, enterprise awareness, business start, existing
businesses and community businesses; - offering adhoc advice and support to individuals seeking to start their own buisness; - offering adhoc advice and suppot to existing businesses.
