What your organisation does

The SCRA is a core community support agency, which works with and on behalf of the people living within the Outer North Neighbourhood Renewal and Greater Shantallow areas, an area which suffers from high levels of multiple deprivation in relation to income, employment, health and disability, education, skills and training, child poverty and income

deprivation affecting older people. The SCRA defines its role to be one of acting as a key delivery agent for individuals and community/voluntary groups in the Outer North Neighbourhood Renewal and Greater Shantallow areas by providing projects, programmes, services in the fields of community safety, health and well-being, sport and recreation, early intervention, arts and culture, after school activities, family support and major area/neighbourhood improvements and home improvements as well as improving home safety and security for the most vulnerable residents and victims. SCRA deliver its programmes, services and activities by effectively targeting those most at risk from social exclusion in particular unemployed, lone parents, those with a disability, carers, elderly, low income working families, children in low income families and disaffected youth and by targeting the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods and residents within the Outer North Neighbourhood Renewal and Greater Shantallow areas thus ensuring the effective and efficient targeting and use of resources. In addition we identify and articulate local needs, provide information to and gather feedback from residents and community/voluntary groups in the area, help influence policy makers and service providers that operate within the Outer North Neighbourhood Renewal and Greater Shantallow areas and promote the case for local investment within the area.
