Public benefits
The purpose of the charity is the advancement of the Christian religion. The Christian religion shall be interpreted to mean those fundamental truths of Christianity as revealed in the Holy Scripture. The Trustees believe that the activities of the charity are open to any members of the public and provide benefit to the public. The direct
public benefits which flow from the activities of the charity include: educating people about the Christian faith through discussion and study groups; providing a free booklet called “Power to Change” to members of the public, enabling them to learn about the Christian religion; providing copies of Holy Scripture (The Bible) to members of the public on request, enabling them to learn and understand the fundamental truths of Christianity; carrying out voluntary Christian work in Portugal, in particular Christian counselling and discipleship, amongst members of the public, enabling individuals to apply the fundamental truths of the Christian faith to their particular circumstances, operating a small public library in Belfast City Centre providing space for members of the public to study about the Christian religion; and to broaden the public benefit of the charity, the charity also works in partnership with other Christian Charities, in particular Biblica (Bible translation, distribution and engagement), the International Evangelical Church of the Algarve (Portugal) and Fitzroy Presbyterian Church (Belfast, Northern Ireland). The benefits cannot be physically defined by measurement but can be demonstrated through a greater understanding of the Christian faith, a greater sense of purpose and hope in life, improved behaviour and contribution to the mental health and wellbeing of those we engage with. There is no harm flowing from the purpose of our charity. The charity’s beneficiaries are the general public and various partner charities that are paid grants to further advance the objects of our charity. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is that those who work for the charity may feel an improved sense of wellbeing. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
