Public benefits
Each year at a meeting of the board of the Trust, the Trustees decide on a number of charities to provide financial support to. The direct benefit is the provision of financial support to a number of charities each year which aim to help those who are suffering from poverty, health problems or are generally disadvantaged, charities who advance
education and also charities who advance Christian faith. PURPOSE 1: The advancement of education. Of those charities supported, several would be involved in the provision of research and training e.g. in the field of medicine, social support etc. Examples of the benefits that result from this are increased educational standards and education is more widely available to those who could not otherwise afford it. PURPOSE 2: The advancement of the Christian Faith worldwide. As noted above ED Forbes Charitable Trust provides financial support each year to a number of charities. Of those supported, many are involved in furthering the Christian Faith through their charitable work such as, The Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul and Christian Aid. Examples of the benefits of furthering the Christian are increased knowledge of Christianity and furtherance of the practical outworking of the Christian faith such as relief of need through practical support and provision of essential goods for instance at Christmas for the elderly and poor. PURPOSE 3: The relief of poverty and generally the advancement of any other charitable object As stated the direct benefit is the provision of financial support to a number of charities each year which aim to help those who are suffering from poverty, health problems or are generally disadvantaged. Examples of benefits that flow from this financial assistance are further monies to fund food or other essentials for the poor which relieve their poverty and the stress associated with this, funds to health charities such as charities who deal with cancer, heart conditions, etc to enable research to continue and to help relieve those suffering from such conditions and improve their conditions of life The benefits are evidenced by testimonials on websites administered by many of the charities supported. The charities supported financially are well known and the effects of their work are felt throughout the province and further afield. There is no identifiable harm with the purposes. The charity’s beneficiaries are anyone living within Northern Ireland and Great Britain. There are no identifiable private benefits.
