Public benefits
The purpose of the charity is to enhance the medical care facilities at Musgrave Park Hospital. This is a regional orthopaedic hospital and the benefit of the charity's work therefore extends throughout Northern Ireland, with improved healthcare results, particularly in the fields of orthopaedics, and brain injury care. The charity itself does
not provide any medical care, all of which is carried out by professionals employed by the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. There is therefore no risk of any harm flowing from the activities of the charity. The charity's beneficiaries are ultimately the patients of Musgrave Park Hospital, who are drawn from the population of N Ireland. A private benefit may arise to trustees requiring medical attention at the hospital, but this is incidental and is considered a by-product of carrying out the charity's purposes.
