Public benefits

Purpose 1 - to preserve the character and beauty of the village. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include environmental improvements which involves the group lobbying local authorities and also other stakeholders including private landowners and others to create a cohesive vision for how the village can preserve the environment

for future generations in terms of preservation of the built environment, the landscape, local flora and fauna and items of heritage value in the landscape. These benefits can be demonstrated by the continued development of communal areas in the village for community use and enhanced ambiance of village areas for everyone. Purpose 2 - to maintain and improve the quality of life for the residents. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include health and well-being of life for local residents and community development. Our main focus is on improving service provision by statutory and voluntary agencies and providing social and learning opportunities for local residents. These benefits can be demonstrated by the keeping of records of those that attend our events and those who continue to volunteer in our various activities. We provide newsletters and flyers, utilise the local press and take photographs. We gather monitoring information when we access public funds for our activities. The beneficiaries are all residents of the village and its environs regardless of community background. There is no harm flowing from this purpose or risk of harm from these benefits. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose as everyone is treated the same and has equal access to all of our support and services.

What your organisation does

We meet every month from September to June in the Village Hall as a group of local residents - both permanent and holiday home owners. We look at issues within the village such as policing, Council requirements and address these with the appropriate department. We apply for a Community Development Grant and a Festival Grant every year and host an

Easter party, Halloween 2 day Festival and Christmas Party every year. During the year we hold various social gatherings as we can organise. We have been successful in obtaining grants for equipment for the village hall that would otherwise not have been provided by the local Council. We raise money to supplement the grants that we receive to enable all local families to attend the various events without huge cost to each one.
