Public benefits
Public Benefit Requirement In setting out our three purposes, the Trustees believe that these satisfy the appropriate elements of the public benefit requirement as follows: Purpose 1 The prevention or relief of poverty It is our ultimate goal to reduce the number of children in Bogota being abandoned on the Streets, or working on the Streets due
to poverty. This will result in reduced levels of child abuse, child neglect, child sickness and child mortality. This is obtained through our providing grants to enable children to receive food, shelter and care. Purpose 2 The advancement of Education By providing a good level of education to the children receiving shelter and care, such children will have an enhanced knowledge, resulting in better career opportunities and therefore be able to provide for their own families in the future. This particular benefit can be evidenced by the number of children in care who are now attending University or who have obtained employment. Education provided to parents will result in more stable and loving family homes, thus preventing children being abused or abandoned by their parents. Purpose 3 The advancement of Religion The benefits which flow from this purpose include reduced levels of stress and anxiety, peace and hope for a brighter future, not only for the children but also for their families and the wider community. All of the above benefits can be demonstrated through reports being produced by the Christian Fellowship Foundation in Bogota, who partner us and oversee all aspects of the work locally. They are also demonstrated when our Trustees visit, inspect and report on the projects at least once per year. The purposes of Mission Possible may lead to the risk of harm or injury when our Trustees travel to visit the projects. Bogota is quite a high risk City to visit because of its high rates of crime and terrorism. However, our Trustees are made fully aware of the dangers in certain areas and mitigate their risks by ensuring that they are always accompanied by a trusted member of the Foundation. They also stay in a very secure Hotel in Bogota. This ensures that the potential risk is outweighed by the benefits which are being provided. Any private benefit is purely incidental.

What do we do? Mission Possible raises funding in the United Kingdom by the following methods: • Charity Shop • Presentations to various Church Groups • Requesting of Grants • Other lawful and charitable fundraising activities These funds are sent to our Foundation partners in Bogota and are used to pay for the following agreed projects: • The
day to day expenses in a Residential Home for up to 20 Boys in Bogota, including their education in a private school. . The running expenses of a Residential Home for 12 girls, including their education. • The provision of a daily meal at a Day Centre in the Juan Rey area of Bogota where the poverty level is extremely high. These children are also taught about the Christian Faith, thus helping them become more responsible and caring as adults. This Centre is also used to help educate parents regarding basic child care responsibilities. • We funded the construction of a new Culture Centre in the Juan Rey area and it was officially opened in 2018. This Centre is used primarily as a Feeding Centre and also a Christian Church at weekends with the capacity to feed up to 300 children. Children are also provided with opportunities to learn new skills such as crafts, woodwork and music.
