Public benefits
Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to
harm. The benefit is for children at Kirkinriola Primary School. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm.

Kirkinriola Parent Teacher Association encourages closer links between home and school. We provide parents an opportunity to become involved in raising funds to be used for the enhancement of school life for the good of the pupil. Kirkinriola PTA holds a variety of whole school fundraising events. Funds have historically been used to develop
pupil appreciation of the arts, we organise specially trained performers to attend the school. This provides children with an opportunity to experience professional artists preforming within a safe environment. The PTA also provide the school support with transport funding for the children to events not normally financed by the education authority, thus helping the school to provide a wider and more varied selection of extra curriculum activities. Enhancement of the social development of the pupils is also funded through PTA funds, events such as end of term parties, fun days and day trips are all financially aided by the PTA. The PTA also participates in the after school activity programme delivering craft and gardening opportunities in a non formal fashion allowing the children to develop many life long skills.
