Public benefits
Newry Muay Thai is committed to the development and further education of Muay Thai, Thai history & culture. Our commitment stretches to the student so that they may reach their goals no matter how large or small. It is our aim to develop the service users fitness, health and self-confidence. The benefits that flow from purpose A are inclusive
community activities that promote health and well being. These benefits will be evidenced through user feedback and feedback from organisations that refer people to us. The benefits that flow from purpose B are improved mental and physical health and wellbeing for our service users as well as a working knowledge of goal setting and personal development. This benefit will be evidenced through feedback from our service users. The benefits that flow from purpose C are helping young people that were adopted from Thailand to have a connection with their country of origin and get a sense of belonging in the local area. Also adult people originating from Thailand and now living in the area have felt a connected to the local community through participating in our activities, this in turn aids their integration into society and the community. It reduces mistrust of foreign nationals. This can be evidenced from user feedback and referrers feedback. The benefits that flow from purpose D are improved physical and mental health, better integration especially from people from eastern Europe as most activities can be demonstrated and reduces the language barrier which causes division. This can be evidenced from user feedback and referrers feedback. The benefits that flow from purpose E are vulnerable people are supported and through exercise find improvement in mental health. This can be evidenced from user feedback and referrers feedback. The benefits that flow from purpose F are less anti social behaviour and better citizens. Giving young people the confidence to change their lives and learn the benefits of a healthier lifestyle. This can be evidenced from user feedback and referrers feedback. This benefit will be evidenced through feedback from our service users. There is a risk of occasional minor bumps and bruises to participants which are temporary. To ensure maximum safety there will always be first aid kits and all leaders will have first aid training. These possible injuries would heal within days but the benefits from mental and physical stimulation will greatly improve a persons overall health and wellbeing. The benefit is for the people of Newry and Mourne and its immediate environs without distinction of age, sex, race, nationality, sexual orientation, ethnic background, political or other opinions who are in need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, disability or social or economic circumstances. Private benefit may arrive from training provided for our trustees such as first aid courses but it would be incidental and necessary to ensure the safety of our service users.

Newry Muay Thai use Thai Martial Arts and Thai Culture and other forms of exercise prescription as a medium to help people with mental health problems and young people with social and behavioural problems. Exercise alone provides a greater sense of wellbeing but we use a person centred approach with our service users to maximise a persons
potential and to give them a better quality of service. We will also signpost people to other services in the area that we feel may be of benefit.
