Public benefits
The trustees believe that both our purposes satisfy both elements of the public benefit requirement. The direct benefits which flow from purpose one include increasing confidence and self esteem, and reducing levels of stress and anxiety from being involved in playing and listening to traditional music. The direct benefits which flow from purpose
two include creating a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere, and providing familiar music to promote a sense of involvement and joy. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from participants and regular independent feedback of our services. We can provide feedback using surveys for those partaking in music tuition. In playing traditional music in public there is a risk of unintended offence due to playing Christian and cultural based music, however as we only perform on invitation this is very rare and the benefit outweighs the potential harm. The charity’s benefits are provided to anyone in the Carnagh and surrounding areas who enjoys playing and listening to traditional music, but feel they don't have the opportunity or confidence to partake in it. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by the organisation in the form of the addition of musical instruments and office supplies. These are necessary to the achievement of the purpose and the investment is reasonable therefore the private benefit is incidental and is outweighed by the benefit to the beneficiaries.
