Improved understanding and innovation through research into the Special problems of Learning Disabilities Improved communication and co-operation between statutory and voluntary agencies and organisations

and individuals working in the field of disability to improve relief and benefit of disabled people Improved facilities and services for disabled people The public is better educated with regards to all aspects of learning disabled people thus improving their integration within the community. Improved quality of life of those persons aforementioned through the provision of rehabilitation training and care. The benefits are evidenced through feedback from stakeholder and service user surveys and service user outcomes. While there is a risk that conditions may deteriorate or not improve, the benefits outweigh the risk. There is no private benefit.

What your organisation does

Challenge assists adults and children with a learning disability or acquired brain injury to live in appropriate community settings, through offering a holistic range of care and diversional activity. Challenge specialises in services for adults and children who have complex needs, including challenging behaviours, which could not normally be met

outside a hospital or institutional setting. These services include a range of residential and supported living schemes and the provision of work and training opportunities.

Charitable purposes

3.1.1 To promote the preservation and safeguarding of mental health and particularly the relief of persons with Learning Disabilities within Northern Ireland. 3.1.2 To promote and undertake research into the Special problems of Learning Disabilities of persons within Northern Ireland. 3.1.3 To provide a means of consultation and joint action for organisations and individuals working for the relief and benefit of disabled people and to promote and help promote effective communication and co-operation between statutory and voluntary agencies and organisations and individuals working in the field of disability. 3.1.4 To encourage the provision or improvement of facilities and services for disabled people. 3.1.5 To promote the education relief and welfare of disable people and their integration within the community. 3.1.6 To promote the rehabilitation training and care of those persons aforementioned.
