Public benefits

The purposes of The Peace People Charitable Trust are to advance the cause of peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and beyond and to advance education in the field of peace and reconciliation (to include amongst other things the provision of a focal point namely the Peace House) in such manner as the Trustees think fit providing always that

the Trust Fund and the income thereof shall be applied only to such purposes as are charitable by the law of Northern Ireland. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include less tragedies, war, violence and killing. Further benefits include improved health and reduced levels of stress and anxiety. The benefits to the advancement of education are the provision amongst other things of written resources, talks, seminars and work experience initiatives based on first-hand knowledge and experience of promoting peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and beyond. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from monthly meetings, police, news reports, social media, community workshops, university reports, government statistics and medical reports. In building a peaceful society with our neighbours day in and day out and reducing tragedies in Northern Ireland we believe that there is no possibility of harm to society only gain. The charities beneficiaries are people who live in Northern Ireland and beyond who strive for peaceful societies with less tragedies. There are no private benefits flowing from the purposes.

What your organisation does

The Peace People continue to work to make a valuable contribution to the continuation of peace building in Northern Ireland and beyond. Our work involves: International peace work and dialogue Centre of reconciliation - hosting organisations as tenants in the Peace house building such as The Peace Players, Al-Anon, Family Care Society and

Narcotics Anonymous Peace building activities at local level The lobbying of peace issues Promotion of the concept of a Minister for Peace within Northern Ireland Training and capacity development through the delivery of training programmes in non-violent approaches Archiving - To continue to collate data of the Peace People and its work to provide an accessible resource for those who follow Monthly action meetings –Programme of dialogue on contentious and difficult issues which inhibit peace locally and internationally Promoting Youth: - Enable the emergence of youth as leaders in their community and society Outreach Work - Working closely with local schools and universitys both locally and internationally lecturing on our vast experiences of peace building Ensuring Good Governance and Management: - We will ensure that we continue to adhere to best practice in all levels of our work

Charitable purposes

The Trustees shall hold the Trust Fund and the income thereof and apply the same only upon trust to use the same to advance the cause of peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland and beyond and to advance education in the field of peace and reconciliation (to include amongst other things the provision of a focal point namely the Peace House) in such manner as the Trustees think fit providing always that the Trust Fund and the income thereof shall be applied only to such purposes as are charitable by the law of Northern Ireland.
