The Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive Trust promotes access to and appreciation of arts, culture, heritage and education through the Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive (otherwise CÓFLA) by supporting the library & archive financially and in voluntary action. This is done for the benefit of any member of the public
who wishes to engage with the arts, culture and heritage held by CÓFLA and to promote education in these areas through employment of the CÓFLA’s collections and activities. The Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive exists to advance the public's interest in culture and heritage through the promotion of study and research in Irish History, especially ecclesiastical history; Irish Culture , especially the Irish language and Irish games; and Irish European links all with the object of advancing the education of the public. The benefits that flow from support for the Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive are that the public get to freely enjoy their history and heritage, have their education advanced through interaction with historical documents, books, artefacts, classes, lectures and exhibitions as well as the preservation of important aspects of local and national history and heritage for future generations and have value added to their cultural experience. The Public Benefit is demonstrated by the recorded use of the facilities provided by CÓFLA in that more than 10,000 people per annum have accessed these over the last five years. There is no private benefit or harm from the organisation's purpose.

1.The maintenance and conservation of the fabric of the Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich Memorial Library & Archive for present and future generations; 2.The preservation and conservation of the library and archive’s collections for present and future generations; These consist of over 40,000 catalogued items, including books, maps and manuscripts.
The core of the book collection being Cardinal Tomás Ó Fiaich’s own library of volumes on Irish language and history. The book collection also includes, first editions and significant autographed editions. In addition to the catalogued items, the library hold an importance collection of eighteenth and nineteen century Gaelic manuscripts, a collection of maps, antiquities, and large body of Irish sports memorabilia. 3.The availability of all items from the library and archive’s collections for public viewing, genealogical, historical and linguistic research; 4. An enhanced public understanding of history through access to the library and archive and its collections; 5. An enhanced experience of education through access to the library and archive and its collections. This public benefit is demonstrated through the: • opening of the library and archive to the public, free of charge, Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.00pm; • availability of a searchable on-line catalogue through the library’s website; • availability of the library’s collections for examination in the library’s reading room; • display of a selection of the library and archive’s collections; • provision of guided tours for groups of visitors and tourists; • provision of an educational activities for primary and secondary school groups; • collaboration with other libraries in Armagh through the Armagh City Chapter; • use of the library for meetings of historical societies, poetry readings, book launches and other literary events, lectures, musical events and professional seminars; No harm flows from the purpose of the library.
