Demonstrated by provision of full-time (24 hours a day/7 days a week) community radio service broadcast on 107.1fm in Greater Belfast area-in line with Ofcom broadcasting licence ‘Key Commitments’, copy available: http://www.ofcom.org.uk/static/radiolicensing/Community/commitments/cr000044.pdf Surveys reveal high level of satisfaction with quality and breadth of service. To advance education, in particular vocational education and training in radio broadcasting and media skills, techniques and work; Benefits the provision of education in the Irish language-adult training courses provide additional specialised broadcasting skills within the Irish language community. Demonstrated by the numbers of trainees. The purposes do not lead to any harm. Training courses open to Irish speakers, generally within travelling distance of Belfast. Private benefit to trainee participants may arise from our on-going radio skills training when participants gain skills transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure that the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Relief of those in need. Demonstrated by work on projects such as with the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) to devise a training programme for partially sighted trainees. Raidió Fáilte produces and broadcasts a full-time, varied community radio schedule - with the input of volunteers who have received training in-house. Raidió Fáilte offers training courses in radio production skills to adult volunteers of all ages and community backgrounds, improving the lives of people in an area of multiple deprivation Raidió
Fáilte offers opportunities to new bands and other arts practitioners to record their work. Raidió Fáilte engages with those from all sections of the community who have an interest in the Irish language/culture - on a community outreach basis Raidió Fáilte is building a community archive of recordings/broadcast material Raidió Fáilte provides a platform for other community-based initiatives to showcase their work Raidió Fáilte offers volunteering opportunities and work placements, providing enhanced opportunities for further education/employment, in an area associated with high levels of poverty & social exclusion
