Purpose 1: the advancement of the arts, culture and heritage To promote for the benefit of the public, within Northern Ireland, the advancement of the arts, culture and heritage and the promotion of the efficiency of charities, in particular but not limited to the promotion of philanthropy amongst businesses and individuals; the promotion of

partnerships between arts organisations and businesses Purpose 1 - The public benefit requirement: The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased ability, skills and confidence among these organisations to generate income streams from private investment sources including private sector businesses, individuals and Trusts and Foundations. These benefits are evidenced through regular feedback from arts and business members including testimonials, video clips and evaluation reports on training programmes provided, regular reporting to grant funders and partnerships supported via the matched funding Investment Programme and annual Awards and supporting printed materials on these partnerships. This purpose does not lead to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are arts charities, arts organisations, businesses and members of the public living in or located in Northern Ireland. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by a private sector business who is partnered with or sponsoring an arts charity. This private benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the mutual benefit needed to sustain these partnerships is provided to our beneficiaries. Purpose 2: the advancement of education in relation to the Arts the advancement of education in relation to the Arts with a view to developing public taste and appreciation of the Arts and the provision of training to and promotion of best practice in the governance of, arts charities in Northern Ireland. Purpose 2 - The public benefit requirement: The direct benefit which flows from this purpose includes improved and sound governance principles among arts and cultural charities. These benefits are evidenced through regular feedback from arts charities receiving support including evaluation reports on training programmes provided and regular reporting to grant funders. This purpose does not lead to any harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are arts charities, arts organisations located in Northern Ireland. A private benefit flowing from this purpose is that gained by a private sector business individual who is placed on an arts charity board. This private benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

Arts & Business NI believes in the power of creativity to drive performance and prosperity. It is an organisation that sits at the intersection of culture and commerce, working with arts and businesses organisations to unlock creative potential for mutual benefit. It champions the role of creativity in the cultural and commercial sectors and drives

performance and prosperity across the board. Everything it does is about bringing arts and business organisations together for mutual benefit – a two way flow of information, ideas and creativity. The arts are helping deliver creative solutions to business at a time when innovative thinking has never been more critical. A&B NI works with both sectors to make this happen. It works to strengthen and sustain the arts by building skills, confidence, networks and capacity to diversify income by: - Offering inspiration, training, advice and support to the Arts on entrepreneurial approaches to income generation based on sound governance and strategic business planning - Connecting arts leaders to the private sector through its network and events - Addressing skills gaps by placing business people onto cultural boards, and facilitating business mentoring of arts leaders - Working to develop the cultural fundraisers and leaders of the future.

Charitable purposes

The objects for which Arts & Business NI is established (“Objects”) are to promote for the benefit of the public, within Northern Ireland, the advancement of the arts, culture and heritage and the promotion of the efficiency of charities, in particular but not limited to the promotion of philanthropy amongst businesses and individuals; the promotion of partnerships between arts organisations and businesses; the advancement of education in relation to the Arts with a view to developing public taste and appreciation of the Arts and the provision of training to and promotion of best practice in the governance of, arts charities in Northern Ireland.
