Public benefits
The objects for which the Society is established are to advance education, in particular for young people, by providing training facilities for the acquisition and development of occupational skills and work experience. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are the advancement of training and life skills, the purpose of these objects
being the provision and maintenance of employment for the benefit of the community. The society seeks to provide a structured educational environment that develops students’ capabilities, competencies and skills. We encourage the development of our students through pastoral care, sporting and other activities. We provide an environment where each student can develop and fulfil his or her potential, building their self-confidence and fostering a desire to contribute to the community. In so doing, we prepare our students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life. These benefits are evidenced through our • high level achievement rate of NVQ/VRQ qualifications. • high level achievement rate in the Essential Skills of Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. • high progression rates through the levels of training from Level 1, to Level 2 and Level 3. • high percentage rate of learners gaining full time employment. • holistic development of technical skills, motivation, employability skills and personal and social skills. • strong pastoral care providing individual counselling and support for all learners. All of this is an area of high social and economic deprivation. These outcomes are evidenced by inspections from the Education Training Inspectorate (ETI). Department for Employment and Learning and the awarding bodies City and Guilds and the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT). Limestone Youth Training Project (LYTP) recently received Outstanding Grade 1 for the quality of its provision from ETI. We also have received excellent reports from DEL, City and Guilds and VTCT with no action points for the teaching and learning experiences provided for all its young people. There is no private benefit. There are no harmful side effects from this purpose.
