Public benefits

The trustees are satisfied that both elements of the public benefit requirement are met. The purpose of the James Davidson Dornan and Doreen Dornan Trust (the Trust) - on foot of the Will of the late Mrs Doreen Dornan – is to provide financial support to Killinchy Presbyterian Church (the Church). The Session and Committee of the Church have

absolute discretion as to how the funds are utilised in line with the Church’s own objective which is the “Advancement of Religion”. The direct benefits flowing from the purposes include the improved and sustained administration of the Church and the overall moral improvement and edification of the public which derives from it. The benefits can be evidenced through the Annual Accounts produced by the Church which set out in detail how the income of the Church has been allocated in each year both within the Church itself and throughout the wider community and the ‘public’ presence of the Church which is open and welcoming to of persons, of all ages and of any denomination, professing a Christian faith, persons of other faiths and of no faith at all and its pivotal role within the local community. No harm arises from the Trust’s purpose and neither does any private benefit - the Trustees are all voluntary and derive no personal benefit of any kind as a result of their involvement in the management of the Trust.
