Public benefits

(1) Advance education by delivering community education and vocational training programmes. Direct Benefits include achievement of qualifications, enhanced career prospects, increased self-confidence, a highly skilled labour force. These are demonstrated through beneficiaries gaining qualifications, feedback from beneficiaries and the completion of

pre/post soft monitoring questionnaires. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The benefits of this purpose are provided to residents of the Causeway Coast and Glens Area of Northern Ireland. There is no private benefit resulting from this purpose. (2) Promote health and well-being by organising healthy recreational activities and information for residents living in the area of benefit. Direct benefits include improved Physical/Mental health & social wellbeing of beneficiaries. These are demonstrated through feedback from beneficiaries and the completion of pre/post soft monitoring questionnaires. Potential harm might include clients being susceptible to conditions associated with physical exertion, however the health related benefits outweigh any harm. The benefits of this purpose are provided to residents of the Causeway Coast and Glens Area of Northern Ireland. There is no private benefit resulting from this purpose. (3) Relieve those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability or other disadvantage by providing a telephone care, alert and support service. Direct benefits include enabling clients to remain independent in their own home, reduced social isolation, increased feelings of safety in the home and improved mental health. These are demonstrated through feedback from beneficiaries in addition to the completion of pre/post soft monitoring questionnaires. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The benefits of this purpose are provided to vulnerable adults living in the Causeway Coast and Glens Area of Northern Ireland. There is no private benefit resulting from this purpose. (4) Relieve unemployment and poverty by the creation of training and employment opportunities through the provision of incubation business units for use on favourable terms Direct benefits include improved service provision, employment creation, increased money inflows to the local economy. These are demonstrated through the continued use of the units for start-up businesses and the jobs which have been created & continue to be sustained. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. The benefits of this purpose are provided to residents of the Causeway Coast and Glens Area of Northern Ireland. There is no private benefit resulting from this purpose. What your organisation does

West Bann Development (WBD) is based within a government designated neighbourhood renewal area (Churchlands) where they work to initiate and stimulate regeneration of the West Bann area of Coleraine. They organise in excess of 8 IT/educational classes each week, 7 exercise classes, a range of complementary therapies and numerous community relations

and social activities. West Bann also promote the provision of early years services/activities. Childcare classes at Levels 2/3, parenting classes and speech and language classes are organised each week, all with a supporting crèche. IT/Educational courses and crèche provision are offered free of charge for residents of the West Bann area of Coleraine. West Bann facilitate other community and statutory organisations who use their Centre, meeting rooms and IT Suite to deliver services for local people. More recently West Bann have launched a Telephone Support Service for Elderly and Vulnerable Adults called "Good Morning Causeway" which supports people to remain independent in their own homes. It provides service users with a daily phone call, alerting others if the call is not answered. The service provides users and their families with peace of mind, connects them with local community activities/services and helps reduce the fear of crime. Located adjacent to the main community centre, West Bann Development also provide 6 Business Units rented at low cost to encourage the formation of new businesses, employment creation and the provision of services to the West Bann area of Coleraine.

Charitable purposes

To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Causeway Coast and Glens Area and its environs (the “area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity, political or religious opinion and in particular to:- (1) Advance education by delivering community education and vocational training programmes. (2) Promote health and well-being by organising healthy recreational activities and information for residents living in the area of benefit. (3) Relieve those in need by reason of age, ill-health, disability or other disadvantage by providing a telephone care, alert and support service. (4) Relieve unemployment and poverty by the creation of training and employment opportunities through the provision of incubation business units for use on favourable terms (5) Promote community development for the public benefit by providing: (i) facilities and amenities for, and promoting co-operation and joint activities between, community and voluntary groups and organisations; (ii) an accessible early years service, including training, support, signposting and networking, for families living in the area of benefit; (iii) opportunities to foster good community relations and social cohesion.
