Public benefits

What is the benefit 1. We offer support & guidance to those adults within our local communities that have a learning disability, by providing a place where they can come to interact and socialise with other adults with learning difficulties and the volunteers. In turn they gain friendships, guidance, support and self-development, including

improved communication skills, self-belief and independence. Families, dependants and careers also benefit from the services that the Gateway Club provide as it provides support through valuable respite time for them. 2. We providing a safe, accessible environment catered to the needs of those with a learning disability where they can come to enjoy recreational activities such as games, discos, parties and cinema trips. The benefit of this recreational time is that it improves their lives by developing their social skills and improving their physical & mental abilities through interaction in games/play and mild exercise through dance. How the benefit could be demonstrated The benefits that are listed in our public benefit statement can be demonstrated through the almost full attendance at the club. Also we often receive informal feedback from the clients themselves about how much they enjoy the gateway club and from the parents and careers in their expression of gratitude for the services we provide and how much benefit they too get out of it. Is there any harm There is no harm that results from our purposes or benefits. Who are the beneficiaries The beneficiaries are those adults in our local community with learning disabilities. Is there any private bneefit No individual gains a private benefit that is incidental in achieving the purpose.

What your organisation does

The Magherafelt and District Gateway Club is a cross community social club for adults with learning needs and disabilities. The Gateway Club provides a safe environment where members come to socialise and enjoy a disco, snacks, and a chill out T.V room. We hold special events like Hal'oween fancy dress parties, Valentines day dances and Christmas

balls as well as outings and bus trips for the members. It is a place where parents/careers can be assured that their loved ones will be well looked after by the well versed volunteers.
