Public benefits

Our benefits flow from and link to our purpose of ‘furthering and advancing the gospel’ in the following ways: • People availing of our services experience a positive change in their life in line with our vision, “Changing People’s Lives”. This vision is delivered through our mission statement which is “Making God’s love real to all people within

our reach.” We make God’s love real by supporting anyone who needs our assistance through provision of accommodation, cooking meals, providing food parcels, counselling, befriending, signposting, providing access to a gym and laundrette and through a drop in approach allowing people to chat and have someone listen to them. • For many it is their first introduction to the gospel. People are introduced to our Christian environment, they are made welcome, and they are accepted no matter what and avail of services which offer forgiveness and transformation. • When people avail of our services they meet our Trustees, our staff and our volunteers, through these encounters they experience God’s love as Crossfire Trust is founded on a Christian ethos. This in turn helps further and advance the gospel as people experience at first hand the power of Christianity and feel safe to explore their religious or non-religious beliefs. In essence they begin to understand the power of God’s work within their lives. There is no private benefit to Trustees of Crossfire Trust as a result of this purpose as we are not affiliated to any church or religious grouping; instead our members are made up of Christians from all religious domains and also people from other religious faiths. We offer no barrier to anyone becoming involved in our group irrespective of their religious view point as long as they bring a core ethos of caring, forgiveness, openness to all, integrity and a willingness to help others etc. There is no private benefit following from this purpose. Beneficiaries are the wider people in need of support living in or coming to South Armagh. There is also no harm flowing from our purpose because we are open to everyone who needs our help, Christian, other faiths, non-Christian and atheist. We do communicate and demonstrate Christian Religion as a choice and do not discriminate or reject the person but instead show God’s love by helping them in any way we can. Our public benefits are: • Individuals have a positive life change creating openness and respect for relationships • People are supported to live a wholesome full and exciting life • People take confidence and pride in their lives through access to services which help address poverty • Promote Christianity through value and respect and hope for the future • A calming influence for a peaceful society • Increased understanding of citizenship and community • Individuals feel secure and valued • Supporting a joined up approach from all agencies for the development of South Armagh. We demonstrate these benefits through strong monitoring and evaluation systems. We undertake an annual performance review of Crossfire Trust by consulting with the community and key stakeholders, this process includes evaluations, focus groups and external evaluations. Each service or project we deliver is evaluated through ongoing feedback sheets, focus groups and end project evaluations. We also record levels of participation.

What your organisation does

We welcome the stranger and those isolated in society and provide emergency accommodation, structured supported accommodation and independent living. As well as caring for the homeless and those seeking support we host special events to help deal with our troubled past, reconcile to those we are suspicious of and build trust. This brings us in

contact with family breakdown and community division with pressing needs from mental health, drug addiction and sectarianism. We consider Darkley House to be a safe house for those at risk and our progress has been honoured by Government ministers, a personal visit from the Irish President, a visit to Buckingham Palace and the Settlor of Crossfire Trust received an MBE and the USA Peace Prize for reconciliation at grassroots. We take the risk for peace and pioneer a new level of co-operation and goodwill for all to enjoy.
