At this facility we also breed course fish which we

restocking into six Stillwater lakes thereby increasing the biodiversity and replenishing fish stocks with promotes angling participation for every section of the community. We also carry out river improvement/restoration works on the Erne catchment tributaries to reinstate and improve habitat by protecting the environment not just for fish but for all wildlife along the river banks. These benefits are evidenced through annual monitoring of the genetic integrity of the trout by Queens University Belfast and ongoing DCAL/AFBI surveys of the Lough Erne system along with independent survey work carried out on the Stillwater lakes. Our beneficiaries are not just the people of Fermanagh and surrounding areas but also extend to the general public both North and South and further afield. The only private benefit from the purpose is incidental whereby tourism is increased resulting in a benefit to the retail and hospitality sector. What your organisation does

Our organisation runs the Marble Arch fish hatchery which is the where we rear the genetic strain of Erne trout. The hatchery provides the fish for the supportive breeding programmes and is also a gene bank in the event of a major incident on the Erne system. At this facility we also breed course fish which we restocking into six Stillwater lakes

thereby increasing the biodiversity and replenishing fish stocks with promotes angling participation for every section of the community. We also carry out river improvement/restoration works on the Erne catchment tributaries to reinstate and improve habitat by protecting the environment not just for fish but for all wildlife along the river banks.
