Public benefits

The trustees are satisfied that both elements of the public benefit requirement are met. The charity's beneficiaries are primarily disadvantaged people of Ethiopia and the direct benefits flowing to them from the purposes arise out of direct financial assistance and voluntary work and include improved re-training and financial help to aid

development and relieve poverty leading to less worry and stress and a degree of financial security. Further benefits include shelter; nourishment and health-improvement through the provision of a "family style home" which does not have the feel of a large institution, as well as a reduction in social isolation amongst those who are old or needy in their own homes. The benefits can be evidenced through visitations where it is clear that the beneficiaries are happy and being well cared for. In relation to private benefit, these are minor and incidental payments such as those to the ladies or the watchman who look after the children in the home in Ethiopia. Small allowances are also paid to two people who volunteer and work in the shop. These two projects would not be happening if we did not pay these people. There are no harms arising from our activities of providing financial and voluntary support which would outweigh the overall benefits. We do not charge any fees to beneficiaries. In relation to ‘sustainable development’ referred to in our purposes, this is of an economic and developmental nature; whereby we endeavour to give children the best chance in their education, training or life skills so that they are more able to make their own way in life. This may also extend to, for example, trafficked women whose could be retrained in life skills and enabled to support themselves.

What your organisation does

We have a small family home for some children. ostracized through HIV., and other children also. We provide an allowance to poor people who have no family support, so giving them a little dignity and security in their lives. We help people in difficult circumstances to improve their quality of life. This can be a "one off" gift.
