Public benefits

The direct benefits which flow from the purpose include improved prospects of individuals gaining employment, actually becoming employed or self-employed and having an income instead of total reliance on state benefits. Improved overall economic regeneration due to the cumulative personal wellbeing of individuals' better self-provision, personal

purpose, family provision and reduction in the worry and deprivation caused by economic inactivity such as unemployment that can affect health and further the plight of being economically inactive. These benefits are demonstrated through monitoring activity on those who participate in activity to develop employability skills and reduce economic inactivity. The purposes of our charity may lead to the following harm: The efforts of an individual to set up in business may result in a realisation that an idea is not viable or indeed in early failure of the business. We can show that this harm is outweighed by the benefits through the knowledge and insight of the world of business and commerce and the experience gained through research and business planning. Also the incubation process, with low or Nil rents for the startup period, creates a low financial risk while effort is concentrated on starting a business and testing the market. The charity’s beneficiaries are those who are economically inactive in the Borough of Ballymoney, its villages, hinterlands and environs. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is that any prosperity from improved urban regeneration may be good for the trade of the trustees who own businesses however this is incidental because all businesses would gain similarly and it is necessary because the important skills, business experience and local knowledge of the trustees is vital to our purpose.
