Public benefits
Residents are able to live in a homely and secure environment proved by The Croft Community. They receive the care and support which enables them to live a more independent life and which helps them to reach their goals and aspirations. They are encouraged and supported to be able to participate in all aspects of the local community that they
would like to do. Living at the Croft Community they are supported and given the tools and confidence to look beyond their disabilities and seek voluntary and work placements to enhance their quality of life. Parents of a permanent resident are assured and confident in the services provided by The Croft Community that their family members are receiving the best possible care and support to enhance their life-skills to the best of their ability. They are able to continue with their lives safe in the knowledge that their loved ones are as happy, secure and independent as any adult with or without a disability. Parents/next-of-kin availing of respite are provided with a safe place for their loved ones to be able to stay and to be well cared for. This is a critical service to them and is the key means for them to continue to care for and look after their loved ones at home. This service allows us the family/carer to recharge and get a well-earned break from time to time. The Croft Community carry out regular, and at least annual, surveys with our service users and their families and ask them about the services we provide, and give them the opportunity to discuss these with us. Our beneficiaries are residents, their families/carers and those availing of the respite service.

The Croft Community provides care and support including accommodation for adults with a learning disability. In line with government guidelines and legislation The Croft Community provides a homely environment where each of the staff work together with the one aim of helping each of the service users reach their full potential. People with learning
disabilities no longer need to live a life of passiveness and they can expect to live a competitively ordinary life in a form of sheltered and supported housing. The Croft Community delivers this function to a high standard both in environment and service delivery. The service users are encouraged to be as independent as possible learning new life skills and to part-take in work placements were possible and day centre activities each day. A varied evening and weekend programme is in place which is decided upon with great input from the service users. The Croft Community also offers advice to families and next-of-kin who are living with or dealing with adults with learning disabilities and who require support in emergency situations. Where we are unable to assist directly, we can direct families to statutory services and other organisations that may be able to help. We currently have 25 permanent residential residents, 12 supported living tenants and 7 respite beds which provide short-stay / respite services to over 100 families in our community. Our day care services provide day support to approximately 6 families with the intention to expand this service in the near future.
