The charity “Newtownabbey Kickers” is established to promote and encourage a safe environment for children with a disablement. It also encompasses children without a disablement, but whom attend on the basis of; need, by reason of age, infirmity and social or economic circumstances within Country Antrim and its surrounding areas. It uses
participation in sports and youth programmes, namely football and athletics to improve general health, to increase levels of fitness, to improve the quality of life through the enhancement of self-esteem. The creation of friendships and the development of better social skills, thus improving peer and parental relationships and the overall promotion of mental wellbeing. It also offers a reduction in social exclusion, it gives a sense of belonging and inclusiveness to each member and it also creates an acceptance of people with disabilities and enhances social inclusion. These benefits can be shown in terms of, a questionnaire will be issued to record feedback from parents and attendees, also independent evaluation with take place in the format of the Irish Football Association Clubmark Award. The charity will also produce an annual report at the AGM summarizing the achievements of the charity throughout the previous year. The purposes of this charity is to ensure no harm, although a small risk that a participant may be injured as a result of taking part we can outweigh this by using specialist trained coaches and by undertaking regular evaluations and risk assessments for all the activities we operate, thus ensuring the safety of all our participants, including coaches and support staff. An awareness of potential issues concerning young people and vulnerable adults will also be addressed by using safeguarding procedures and guidelines provided by the Irish Football Association, under direction from our child welfare officer. The charity’s beneficiaries are the participants, young people and vulnerable adults with learning or physical disablements, within Co Antrim and its surrounding areas. A direct benefit is that children or relatives of the trustees may on occasions benefit thought participation in our activities, however these benefits are totally incidental but required as the charity requires coaches and volunteers in order to operate and for achievement of the charity goals and objectives. Other private benefits flowing from this purpose, are that of the nature where volunteer’s will acquire skills or qualifications that are transferable to other settings, such as coach education and governance training, however in order to carry out their duties within the charity, these benefits are totally incidental and necessary to make sure that the charity meets all the required operating standards required by the Irish Football Association and also necessary to provide the benefits to the charity’s beneficiaries."

We train disabled children in football skills, we improve co ordination, social skills (belonging to a group, identifying with others, autistic children lack many skills in this area) we also improve mobility, body posture and give the children an over experience of belonging to team and also improve their fitness and improve their general well
being. this is together with all the associated football/soccer skills sets that apply to our sport.
