Public benefits

The Trustees of the Dunsford Cross Community Resource Centre provide a community centre for the benefit of all the residents of Dunsford which covers a rural area where the residents are widely dispersed and often isolated. The Centre improves community life by being a facility for sports, educational and other recreational activities. The public

benefits include reduced social isolation, improved health and well being and quality of life The Centre is a venue for a support group for young mothers with infants and pre school children; Saturday club for adolescents and social evenings for the elderly.The public benefits include improved community relations; advancement of community development especially among the youth and improving parenting skills of young mothers. The Centre provides facilities for the advancement of culture and heritage by means of Irish dancing and Irish language classes. It also helps develop home economic skills through regular craftwork and cookery sessions. It also is a venue for sporting, first aid and fitness activities including bowls,table tennis and circuit training. It also has a modern playground used by all the children in the community. The public benefits include advancement of culture and heritage, improved health and saving of lives, advancement of amateur sport and advancement of education. The Social groups which benefit from using the Centre include:-- Senior Citizens benefit from experiencing reduced social isolation, improved health, well- being and physical fitness by participating in activities such as yoga,keep-fit dancing and social evenings. They also learn new or develop existing skills from craft and art classes. Vulnerable Adults receive help and advice from meetings of support groups to improve their quality of lives and their health. Children and Young People develop a sense of community by taking part in cross-community activities so improving community relations. Their health and fitness benefits from from keep- fit sessions and sporting activity such as table- tennis. Summer school activities also provide opportunity for continuing education and development of artistic skills. Mothers With Infants improve their parenting skills and infants begin their education through pre-school activities which helps prepare them for school life. The Trustees monitor the public benefit flowing from their activities by :- • The number of individuals and organisations using the centre • Seeking comments via social media eg Facebook page • Comments section in Centre booking form • Agenda at AGM invites comment for user groups. The Trustees are satisfied that:- • No individual knowingly benefits directly from any activity carried out in the centre • No group or individual is harmed in any way as a result of any activity carried out in the centre

Charitable purposes

To develop the capacity and skills of all the rural community of Dunsford so they are better able to identify their needs and to participate more freely in society The Trustees will do this with the assistance of a Management Committee by organising, planning and providing a variety of events such as Children's Saturday Club, Summer Activity School, Mother and Toddler Mornings, Adult Keep Fit and Yogas Classes, Irish Language and Irish Dancing Classes
